Team USA Men’s Basketball Roster For Rio 2016

image2It’s official, the 2016 U.S. Mens Basketball team is nowhere close to a dream, and will be heading into the Rio games without a few of the nations best players but still have a shot at gold with the group that was finalized earlier today.

Athletes from different sports, and countries fear the Zika virus that has been widely spread throughout Brazil, and continues to spread throughout other countries. In consideration of their health as well as their loved ones, athletes withdrew from contention in the upcoming Olympic games which takes place in Rio de Janeiro.

Multiple potential roster finalists for the U.S. withdrew their names from consideration one after the other. Some of the elite talent that will not participate in the upcoming Olympic games are: LeBron James, Stephen Curry, James Harden, Damien Lillard, Chris Paul, and Russel Westbrook.

But instead, former gold medalists like Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant will lead the young cast in pursuit of another gold medal.

The 2016 Rio Olympic U.S. Mens Basketball Roster:

Guards: Kyrie Irving, Kyle Lowry, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler, DeMar DeRozan, 

Forwards: Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, Paul George, Harrison Barnes

Centers: DeMarcus Cousins, Deandre Jordan

The Olympic games begin later this year on August 5th-21st
